Eden Bodyworks Jojoba Monoi Hair Care Line

A few months ago, Eden Bodyworks had a trivia contest on Twitter and I entered to win their Jojoba Monoi Haircare line. I had the right answer to their question and I won!! The line consists of their Jojoba Monoi Moisturizing Shampoo, Jojoba Monoi Revitalizing Conditioner, Jojoba Monoi Hair Milk, Jojoba Monoi Deep Conditioner, and Jojoba Monoi Hair Oil. To be honest, I hadn't tried their products before so I saw this as a wonderful way to test the FULL SIZE products (4oz.- 16oz) and not worry about the money spent if my hair didn't like them. Everything took about 2-3 days to get to my house and that alone impressed me. I rarely order online because I'm too impatient to wait for it lol.

I started out by washing my hair with the shampoo and I was surprised that it didn't leave my hair stripped. Shampoos I've used before always make my hair feel so stripped and actually matte together in a ball of mess that can't be detangled. My hair was actually soft and clean. The real test? That quick scalp scratch to make sure any build up was gone there too. This shampoo most certainly passed!

Next up? I chose the revitalizing conditioner instead of the deep conditioner because it wasn't deep condition day. The consistency was almost like lotion. Creamy and thick but provided enough slip for me to detangle easily. After I shampoo, I section my hair into 4 sections and held them with these clips from Sally's. They hold my thick hair whether its wet, blown out, curly, whatever. Plus, a pack of 12 is less than three dollars. Once my hair is sectioned, I apply the conditioner to each section, about a nickel to quarter size amount and let it sit while I wash my body in the shower. After I let the conditioner sit for about five minutes, I go through each section with my denman brush and my hair feels soooooooooooo soft.

After rinsing the conditioner from my hair, I let my hair air dry a little before I added the hair milk. I like it because it's lightweight but still feels creamy enough to leave my hair moisturized. I used about a dime-sized amount in each section and finger-detangled to make sure everything was evenly distributed. You don't understand how happy I am that it wasn't sticky or really runny.

So my hair is all moisturized and soft right? Right. So now I have to seal it all in with the hair oil. The oil comes in this nifty (yes, nifty) spray bottle. The oil is extremely lightweight and has a pretty light scent. One downside though, the nozzle tends to be targeted instead of an actual "spray" nozzle but thats ok, just spray a little in your hands and smooth it that way!

Throughout the winter, I mainly did twist outs or puffs, the basics just to see how the line works with the various styles and each one came out better and better. I'll definitely buy this line going forward especially since its so easily accessible. Literally, hop in the car and go to Walmart or Sally's and BOOM. Right on the shelf!!Another huge plus is both retailers tend to provided coupons from time to time so now you officially have no reason not to test everything out!

The final style ended with me having my hair in pin-curls so click through to take a look!

Pin Curls!!

You know how it goes. You get bored and want to try something new. This time, it was pin curls. I had never done them before, even when my hair was relaxed but I had straightened my hair but didn't want it to just....lay there. I already had these clips I bought from the beauty supply store a few weeks ago on a whim so luckily I was prepared.

I've Got the Blues

I did a test patch of some blue color I wanted in my hair. Since that went well... I went all out!! Well not all out, just a bigger chunk. As you can see, the hair was pre-lightened beforehand. Yes. BLEACHED. It can be used without damaging your hair or your hair falling out. Afterwards I rinsed and shampooed my hair with Eden Bodyworks Jojoba Monoi Moisturizing Shampoo and then applied the blue semi-permanent color via Adore hair color from my local beauty supply store. I let it sit for 3 hours since I wanted it to be pretty vibrant and then rinsed. Finally I deep conditioned with Eden Bodyworks Jojoba Monoi Deep conditioner and then just styled into a twist out!

My Time at Curltopia Salon

Hairdryers at Curltopia

Shampoo Area ( Very neat and organized)
A few months ago, Lexi from Lexi With the Curls hosted the Miss Jessie's Pillow Soft Curls Preview  at Curltopia in Smyrna, Ga.and the ladies were offered a chance to have their hair finger-styled by one of the stylists. Of course I said yes because I'm always looking for new ideas on how to style my hair.

Fast forward a few months later (I forgot to call back) and I made an appointment. The first thing I noticed was their phone system. It was automated but direct and got you EXACTLY to who you needed to speak to for anything you needed. After I made my appointment, I arrived and got checked in. No waiting at all.
